"Starting Feb. 1, 2008, CCI will no longer accept 2007 Examination Applications. Any 2007 Applications received after this date will be returned to the applicant. All applicants after this date must use the 2008 Examination Application. "
CCI administers examinations for the following Credentials:
RCIS: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
RCS: Registered Cardiac Sonographer
RVS: Registered Vascular Specialist
CCT: Certified Cardiographic Technician
Registry Level Credentials (RCIS, RCS, RVS) require a two-part examination. CCI-registry credentials are awarded to those applicants who successfully complete the Cardiovascular Science exam (or are granted exemption from) and the Registry examination in the specialty in which you are requesting credentialing.
There are three (3) pathways to gain exemption from the Cardiovascular Science examinations:
1) Hold an “active” CCI Registry Level credential: RCIS, RCS, RVS; or
2) Have earned at least one of the following credentials: BTEC, DO, PA, RDCS, RN, RRT MD, RT(R) or RVT, and they must be current for the year in which you apply or expire at a later date. Registrant must also complete and submit the Cardiovascular Science Exemption Application found on page 18 of the 2004 CCI Application and Examination Booklet; or
3) Have graduated from a CAAHEP accredited Cardiovascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography (cardiac or vascular programs only) educational program.
A one-part certification examination is also available for ECG, Cardiac Stress Testing and Holter monitors. Successful completion of the Certified Cardiographic Exam awards the "Certified Cardiographic Technician" (CCT) credential.
The only mechanism for obtaining a CCI credential is through examination by CCI. Upon passing the required examination process, the registrant is awarded a credential certificate and provided a wallet card to signify their registry/certification status. The credentials awarded by of CCI may only be used by professionals who successfully complete the required examinations.
CCI registrants maintain an "Active" credential through the submission of triennial
(three-year) renewal fees and the accrual of continuing educational units (CEUs) on a triennial basis.
