Geisinger Health System is seeking a Cardiac Catheterization Technologist to join their team in Danville PA. Our Heart and Vascular Institute is the most skilled team in the region providing the highest level of cardiac cater. In this role, you will provide technical assistance to performing physicians during diagnostic/interventional cardiac catheterizations, structural heart procedures, and other related procedures. You will be responsible for the direct care of patient during the procedure as well as management of hemostasis post procedure. This position works under the supervision of a physician in clinical matters and will report directly to the Lead Cardiac Catheterization Technologist.


Assists the physician with adult and pediatric cardiac catheterizations including but not limited to the following procedures and techniques: myocardial biopsy, transluminal coronary angioplasty and stenting, rotational atherectomy, temporary pacemaker insertion, pericardiocentesis, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, cardiac assist device insertion, percutaneous valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve implantation, ASD/PFO closure, peripheral vascular diagnostic/interventional procedures.

Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table.

Under the direction and supervision of the physician, administers medications pertinent to cardiac catheterization and other related procedures, including but not limited to, conscious sedation, IV pain medication, and titration of IV drips.

Performs emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures. Initiates life support techniques in the event of a cardiac/respiratory arrest including CPR, drug administration, defibrillation, temporary pacemaker insertion and airway management.

Operates and ensures the quality control of hemodynamic recording devices, fluoroscopy and cine-angiographic x-ray equipment, oxygen consumption equipment, and blood analysis equipment.

Exhibits extensive knowledge of all related equipment within the catheterization laboratory including but not limited to intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, Intra-vascular ultrasound, Fractional Flow Reserve, Rotablator/Diamondback, Optical Coherence Tomography, LUCAS device, ultrasound console, and power injector.

Initiates life support techniques in the event of cardiac or respiratory arrest including drug administration, defibrillation, temporary pacing of the heart, and airway management.


Bachelor's degree in a related field of science or medicine preferred.

Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and RCIS exam eligible required.

Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, electrophysiology, and chemistry required.

Completion of the credentialing process within 6 months of hire.

RCIS or an Associate's degree in healthcare and minimum two years of related experience required.

BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required.
